Weipa is the largest town in Cape York, mainly due to the large Bauxite deposits which are mined along the coast. It is also a port for Cattle exports. Duyfken Point is where Dutch explorer Willem Jansz made contact with the Australian Continent in 1606, more than 150 years before Captain James Cook.
